[How to Care for Your Iron Door]
Iron Door Cleaning & Care Instructions
Here are some simple steps to clean and care for your beautiful new door:
Regular Cleaning:
Clean your iron door on a regular basis with warm water and mild soap, like dish detergent or a mild detergent. A little goes a long way.
Use a soft towel to wipe it down. Then use another towel with just water to remove any soap residue. Lastly, wipe again, with a dry towel this time, to remove any excess water.
Avoid using abrasive or harsh chemicals for cleaning as they can damage the finish of the iron door.
Pay special attention to intricate designs and corners where dirt may accumulate.
Glass:
You can use a glass cleaner like Windex to clean the glass. Use this only on the glass and not on the door.
Operable Scrolling:
If you purchased a door from us with operable scrolling, you will open that by unscrewing the screws and cleaning both sides. You will then have full access to clean the glass. When done make sure your door is dry and tighten your screws.
Lubrication:
To ensure your door hinges, handles, and other moving parts function properly, you can use a grease gun, such as WD-40, once a year to maintain your door and ensure smooth operation.
Protect Against Scratches:
Take precautions to prevent scratches by avoiding the use of sharp or abrasive objects near the door.
Be mindful of pets and children to minimize the risk of accidental scratches.
Coastal Climates:
If you live in a coastal climate where salt residue can form – make sure you are cleaning your door at least twice a month to remove the salt from sticking to your door. Cleaning your door at least twice a month will extend the longevity of your door finish for years to come.
